Home Painting

Home painting can be a daunting task if you are not properly trained for it. It may look simple but in actual fact, it is a lot more challenging than what most people think. Having to possess the skillset to paint multiple coats to cover up the previous coat of paint on the wall requires a bit of skill. Some painters will need to use huge quantities whereas some will need lesser. Why is this so, it is the skills in painting? Understanding how paint works help to minimise the wasted efforts in applying the unnecessary coats of paint. However, not all painters are properly trained as well.

Before you even start to paint the house, you will need a plan. A plan to decide on how you want your home to be like. Something bright? cosy? the list goes on. There are some apps that allow you to “paint” your home with an upload of a photo. This gives you an idea on how your place will look like when it is done.

What you need to get?

Some prep work is needed, getting the necessary equipment and the consumables before you start. You will need the following items:

  1. Paint
  2. Rollers with spare – you will need a stick as well for the ceiling and the higher parts of the walls
  3. Masking tape – for masking the areas which you do not want to stain with paint
  4. Paint tray
  5. Floor sheets – either the disposable plastic type or the tarpaulin sheet or just some old bedsheets that you intend to discard
  6. You will need a ladder
  7. Protective clothing
  8. Face masks and gloves

Now with the shopping list all ready, you are set to buy and start the painting job. But wait, unless you have some of the items as stated inside the list, you have the spare time and you have the skills to do it. Are you sure you want to go through the hassle of doing it yourself? Are you able to use the spare time for something that is more productive or spending more time with your family will make more sense?

Painting services in Singapore is considered cheap as compared to many parts of the world. Unless you live in Australia whereby painting is expensive, you may want to consider engaging professionals to finish up the job for you rather than yourself. These professionals can finish the job in a much shorter time as compared to you. They have more people doing the job and satisfaction is guaranteed as well and no need for getting the frustrations. Moreover, the cost of the items as listed above may add up to a considerable amount and it may actually not be cost effective for you to embark on this journey of painting it yourself. Consider getting the professionals as the costs may not actually be that high.
